Has anyone noticed any hair loss since they have been on the gluten free diet?  All my vials are fine and I am getting all the vitamins I need, I have just been losing my hair...

I haven't noticed any hair loss. I do know that a lack of protien in your diet can cause hair loss.

I would also see your doctor about methylfolate supplementation.

If your villi (celia) are blunted enough, you may not have the intrinsic factors in your gut to break folate free from the food in your diet.  As such, any folate you ingest will get caught in a feedback loop between your small intestine and your liver - and be unavailable for your bloodstream.  Hair loss is one of many symptoms this is occurring.  (others could be: elevated homo-cysteine levels, erratic potassium and calcium levels, and inability to make the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine, and nor-epinephrine - meaning chronic fatigue, depression, and anxiety.)

If this is the case, do not resort to taking folate from a health food store as it is all bound to a gluten molecule.  Take Rx methylfolate (DEPLIN) from your doctor.

    Hope that helps!
