Spiritual books?

Have u read any? I have read wild at heart and desire by John Eldredge. I just started The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren and am excited to see how my life will change from it all. :)

The two books that have had the biggest impact onmy life are The Four Agreements- by Don Miguel Ruiz - and The Seat of the SOul by Gary Zukav.  Reading each of these books had a major impact on my daily life and how I deal with my feelings and with other people.  I am a much happier person after having read them both and highly recommend them.

I had started to read A Purpose Driven Life a few years ago- around the same time I read the other two books.  It was gven to me by a friend involved with a Christian Church that was running a whole "Got Purpose" study group.  There is apparently a whole "package deal" that churches were/are able to buy in order to increase membership with the book.  I found that the although many of the messages rang true- the whole thing turned me off- it was a marketing ploy for the churches- and that didn't work for me. Perhaps if I had just read it as a stand alone I wouldn't have reacted that way.  But having seen the Rick Warren video- with his church of like 1 million people- and how slick the whole thing was- it lost some of its meaning on me.  I admit that I AM NOT a huge fan of organized religion to begin with- and the particular church that ran this was very judgemental of all other faiths - so it may not have been the book...

oh wow, lots to discuss. Well I'm sure it had to do with the lil package deal. I personally thing without anything forced upon u it is a great book. I have read the first 2 chapers..u read 1 daily. Its great. You won't know your purpose until u understand God. It makes sense...he puts us here...we didn't. I love it. I was happy to begin with now I am elated.

I will have to check out those other books when I am done with the few I'm reading now.

Thanks for posting them and take care.

A book that I really enjoyed and that taught me a lot was Trusting God: Even when Life Hurts by Jerry Bridges.  I have read other books by him and he is a great author.  This book was particularly helpful.  He gives you a lot to wrestle with, but if you are up for a little personal growth and enjoy thinking about things and being challenged then this is a great book to read.

It was been awhile since anyone has written something in here.  Has anyone read anything good (or bad) lately that they would like to discuss?
