Disney World

I am going to visit Disney in August for the millionth time.  Last time I went I had just been diagnosed with celiac.  When I made my dining reservations, I told them about my gluten-intolerance.  At EVERY restaurant the chef came out to discuss my menu options personally.  At the buffets they walked me around and showed me what I could and couldn't eat.  They even made me special rolls, mickey waffles and flourless chocolate cake!!  I truly felt like a princess!  I can't wait to go back!

We (2 kids and my wife) are head for our third trip (second time as a celiac). This time we are trying disney crusie (October). 4 days Disney world, 3 days boat. Disney has good to me in the past and I am looking forward to the vacation. I have found (at the park) I head to hte place we want to eat at about 10 minutes early to get my meal figured out, by the time the family get there we can eat together.

    Cheers to Disney.

Both the parks and the cruises are fabulous!  I have been to/on both several times and have always been pleased.  The biggest change that has happened at Disney (that wasn't there last time I was there)  is that when i ordered a hamburger without a bun, they asked if it was for dietary reasons or personal preference.  Upon telling them it was for dietary reasons the cashier took out a large book and made me read the ingredients to make sure there was no other ingredients that I couldn't eat.  Then the head chef came out and asked if I wanted a gluten free bun, (of course i said sure!) and then went back and personally prepared my food.  She also told me that she would not put the fries on the same plate, but put them in a separate container because there was a high chance of cross contamination with them.

The cruises are also amazing!  I've been on two, most recently last month. :)  They will get you whatever you want.  Make sure you turn in the special dietary form you can find on their website and they will take care of the rest.  All of the waiters and their assistants were very informed, as well as the chefs running the buffets.  The head waiter will take care of you personally.  Don't be afraid to ask for anything.  Depending on the head waiter, he or she may not know all of the options available to you.  So feel free to ask for bread, rolls, pancakes in the morning, or different desserts.  If they don't know the answer, the chef most definitely does.

    Happy traveling!!
