I was in the area in the spring. This place was great! Food was so good. Owner said he gets request about 3 times a week for Gluten free. Call first and make a RSVP.

In case anyone is planning to visit Australia, they are EXTREMELY aware of the gluten-free diet and it is not difficult at all to find places to eat out. I was able to eat gluten free pizza at two different restaurants, get gluten free crepes, gluten free cupcakes, gluten free cake....and the list goes on! Many restaurants indicated items on their main menu which were gluten free. And people were so knowledgeable! At one restaurant, my sister asked whether or not their chili had wheat flour in it, and the waitress responded "yes it does, but there are other items which are gluten free." I don't think that would ever happen here in the U.S.!!

And, the other great thing was the fact that you can buy gluten free bread, crackers, etc. in their local grocery stores. And the prices are not through the roof for them like they are here!

Plus, their labeling laws are incredible. It took half the time to look at items to determine whether or not I could eat them.

If only the U.S. could catch up....

I highly recommend Latin America... I have spent time in El Salvador and Belize, both without any incident. Basically a corn/rice/bean based diet. Some wheat flour is used, but the food overall is so basic, you can easily figure out the few things you shouldn't eat.

I had a harder time in Germany.... much harder.
